Robert Kistner
Robert Kistner, a resilient leader, inspired over 100,000 people through his work ethic, perseverance, and empowering leadership in hospitality.
Robert Kistner is a distinguished leader and entrepreneur with a career spanning decades, marked by his profound impact on the hospitality and timeshare industries. Known for his resilience, work ethic, and leadership principles, Kistner has inspired over 100,000 people, including sales professionals, marketing directors, and project managers. His journey from humble beginnings to becoming a respected figure in business management is a testament to his determination and vision.
Born into a low-income family as one of four children, Bob learned the value of hard work at an early age. After high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, an experience he credits as “brutally important” in shaping his commitment to responsibility and discipline.
His time in the Marines instilled in him a goal-oriented mindset that would serve him well in his future career.
Bob’s professional journey began in the restaurant industry, where he worked as an assistant manager. While overseeing operations, he encountered a group of regular customers who were successful timeshare salespeople.
In the 1980s, timeshare sales were a tough, street-level endeavor—salespeople would approach passersby with models of properties and offer deals on the spot. Bob embraced this challenge with vigor, developing a personal mantra that guided him through the rough patches: “Every time you hear ‘No,’ you’re a little closer to ‘Yes.'” This mindset drove him to endure long hours, tough rejections, and the physical toll of street sales, ultimately leading to significant success.
As his career progressed, Bob transitioned from direct sales to leadership roles, where his approach to business management set him apart. He emphasized not only task execution but also empowering his teams through trust, collaboration, and development. His leadership style was rooted in a deep understanding of people—fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation while always prioritizing the personal and professional growth of his team members.
One of Bob’s central leadership mantras is: “Give until it hurts, and then give some more.” This philosophy of selflessness and relentless dedication has not only shaped his career but also left a lasting legacy in the businesses he’s led. Today, Bob is widely respected in the hospitality industry, continuing to lead by example and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
